A statement from the founder:
22 Peaks Project is a movement to take action against the war on veteran suicide by strengthening our own mental and physical fortitude through camaraderie, physical fitness, mental toughness, and the outdoors to build resiliency and community.
Every day 20 veterans will lose the war within and take their own lives. In 2019 alone, Colorado had an heartbreaking all-time high record of 217 veteran suicides with no end in sight.
The goal is to bring awareness to this war, create an environment for veterans to participate and regain a sense of purpose and community, and through Mission 22 help give them the tools to fight and reduce the number of veteran suicides to ZERO.
As such, I intend to climb 22 14ers this summer and conquer them in the name of mental health on behalf of the 22 Peaks Project and Mission 22.
Together we can make a difference. United we heal.
